My Story

Hi, I’m Hadley Fierlinger.

I am a Certified Health Coach and founder of The Remedy Project, my online wellness community where I coach clients using the Whole30 as a starting point for launching a healthy lifestyle.

Those of you who’ve followed and/or walked with me on my journey know how passionate I am about helping people lead a healthier and more sustainable life. As a Health Coach, I have found the Whole30 Programme to be the most effective template for either starting a healthy lifestyle or resetting your healthy habits and getting back on track.

In 30 days you can honestly change your life.

And I am living proof…

Finding Food Freedom through the Whole30 was an important piece in my recovery from IBS and anxiety. I battled through my teen years not aware of how my diet was making me a nervous wreck and causing terrible tummy issues (turns out that Diet Coke doesn’t make a great breakfast!). But I thought all of this was quite normal and just “me”.

Years later, I suffered a reaction to medication that started a terrible series of symptoms. My tummy was suddenly out of control and after trial and error, I found that removing all dairy from my diet helped. Things improved, but something was still missing. I was still bloated, overweight and my anxiety was beginning to take over. At the time, I had no help and very little information or guidance. I was just trying everything I could to feel better.

It was a Integrative GP in Wellington that introduced me to Whole30 and I found the programme to be incredibly well structured and fully supported by science, something that is very important to me. First, I picked up and read It Starts With Food and learned for the first time, why I was so sick. In my case it was systemic inflammation caused by my so called “healthy diet”; high in bread, cheese and Omega 6 oils (margarine, canola oil etc). Also I had intestinal permeability or “leaky gut” causing the food allergies and terrible gas, bloating and bowel issues. It was good to finally read something that made sense.

But, I didn’t actually know how bad I was feeling until I did a Whole30 and felt the best I had felt in years. It made me realize that there were a few foods in my diet that were also bringing about the symptoms I was experiencing. I was surprised and relieved to be feeling so good! How could something like changing the food you are eating really make this much of a difference?

Whole30 was a launching off point for me to make many other changes in my life. Because I was feeling more energy, I cleaned up my family’s diet, I started an exercise regime that I really enjoy and stick with it, I started meditating and going to bed earlier. I began to prioritize my friendships and set aside time to meal plan and cook delicious nourishing food. I started looking after myself and decided I wanted to help others too and after studying to become a Certified Health Coach, I started The Remedy Project in 2015.

Over the last two years, I’ve done a Whole30 when my body feels a bit, shall we say, “over indulged”. Even I live in the real world! I eat a very healthy diet now but still, hidden sugars, alcohol and starchy carbs tend to sneak back into my life and cause weight gain, cravings and leave me feeling moody. So when this happens and I feel ready, I do a Whole30 to stop the crazy cravings for unhealthy carbs and get back on track. Because I have a healthy lifestyle, I can even do just a Whole7 or 10 to reboot. This is part of the Food Freedom that is found after Whole30.

Over the years I have encouraged clients and friends to take on a Whole30 and the results are always inspiring! I have seen people find stores of energy that they thought were lost to aging, get deep restful sleep, improve their allergies, lose weight, heal skin rashes/eczema, reduce/eliminate gut issues, and have healthier hormones and better periods.

I deeply enjoy helping others discover their own success and better health using Whole30 principles and I am thrilled to be New Zealand’s first Certified Whole30 coach
